I am not new to kids’ declarations of love. But last week I met a new group of 4-year-olds at our summer camps, and it was only the second day when I received such an unbridled explosion of affection. Each day’s class was only an hour, so that would have literally been the second hour of knowing each other and yet, he was so generous with his love!
It was all the tiny details that made it extra moving:
He fully intended to lock eyes with me and waited until he could see his reflection in my eyes to speak.
English was not his native language, and for him to somewhat quantify his love was significant.
Over the next couple of days, he would hold my hand if I came round next to him. Only briefly, because he still needs both hands to navigate the ipad.
It was a stressful week outside of the camps. Maybe he felt it, or perhaps he needed that connection too.
Thank you for tuning in this month! Here’s your reminder to tell the people you love that you love them!
